“California Gerontologist Is Giving Caregivers His Most Treasured Assessment Tool:

Revealing this trade secret will have his competitors seeing red…and you saving hundreds of dollars right off the bat!

Sounds a little hyped right?  It is. But keep in mind I am not selling you anything, I promise. I just want your attention for 1 minute.

Especially if you are a Boomer (aged 45-65) and you are taking care of one or both of parents that are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

A little background first: I am indeed a gerontologist (expert in aging), with a Masters from the University of Southern California and I have been in this field for about 15 years.  Mainly working as an Administrator for assisted living communities, and currently I am running my own business as a Geriatric Care Manager in the Los Angeles area (and with it a nifty little website that we will talk about later):

www.DementiaCareSecrets.com

Over the years, I have met hundreds of families going through the same thing you are.  From the early days when families are taking this illness head on, and committing  to doing everything themselves. To the months and years later when the disease has worn you down, and caregiving has the better of you.  The one thing that I see almost every caregiver pursue is knowledge! Many of you are  there already, and you know the frustration of not only researching still more unexpected symptoms and behaviors.

Free time becomes a rare commodity.  And often enough, its spent doing research online looking for products, organizations, services, or just plain information. Stress levels creep up to dangerous levels.

Whether you parent is in the early stages, when the worst thing you have to deal with is memory loss, or they are further along and you are seeing things like; wandering, paranoia, incontinence, and hygiene problems – it starts to take its toll.

If you are a plumber you have to make a living, right? You don’t just give someone with a clogged drain your ‘snake’ tool and let them do it themselves?

An Architect building a house does not just give his plans away, does he?

But that’s exactly what I am doing! I’ll be perfectly honest with you. I am frightened by what I am seeing out there. This is becoming an epidemic. I have been building an on-line geriatric assessment business to serve the tens of thousands of adult children out there taking care of their parents. But I can’t keep up with the demand!

Every day, I am seeing more and more ‘boomers’ hit the wall – caring for their own children, nurturing their own marriage, and then having mom and dad start falling apart.

Money is tight. (Heck 148 billion dollars of caregiving expenses in 2009 tight), and in this economy I can see in my client’s eyes that they desperately need the guidance I have for them, but they JUST can’t swing the expense.  And I, in good consciousness cannot say “sorry – go ask your support group”, or “try to get the doctor to give you a 5-minute description of what you can expect for the next 7 – 14 years”

So I am giving away the main tool that I use when people hire me at $350.00, the whole thing!

15 years of experience have gone into the development and perfection of this assessment form.  It accurately measures the current and future status of an Alzheimer’s sufferer – and much more. It takes into account dozens of variables; family support, financial strength, current physical needs, personal wishes of the victim and the family, planning for the future. And Much More!

If I give this to you, you will not need me. You will have the secret map, the keys of the kingdom, the ultimate do it yourself kit!

I feel a moral obligation to help people, it is what I have been trained to do, so there are no strings attached to this…nothing to buy. But since you are giving me your email address.  If you get my assessment form and do not feel it is everything that you need, I will gladly remove you from my list – This is for people that want a road map for the disease.

Finally, I need to say that while this 9-page assessment is comprehensive. It should never be considered a substitute for medical advise from your doctor. Everyone is unique and your circumstances might require information that is not covered in the Assessment. Over time, you will still need the support and guidance of other medical professionals, and this form was written with some professional jargon that you may want to have explained. Remember, it is only a tool to help you and your family. Please use your best judgment at all times.

“Geriatric Care Manager Gives Away His Most Treasured Tool That Would Cost Most People Over $350.00!”

P.P.S. You are giving your email address to me to get this, and you should never give that away lightly.  The reason I do it, is so I can send updates. For example I have 4 other support documents that I am thinking of giving out. Already when you get the assessment you will get 3 videos to help you fill it out (if you need it). I solemnly promise I will never bombard you with useless junk, or spam, or give your info to anybody, ever. Cross my heart, hope to die. Stick a needle in my eye!

Dementia – What is it, exactly?

Here’s short course on the disease. Sort of a point of departure for us, as in future posts and videos we are going to explore methods for delaying, forstalling, some will even claim to reverse it. I screen the material, and pass on only well researched information.

Dementia Assessment: What is It?

Families are often faced with making tough caregiving decisions. They want to know all the available options, but have little experience or knowledge in the field of elder care, and little time to do the necessary research. This is when the services a qualified geriatric care manager are invaluable.  This is important! When you do your taxes, do you go to an accountant? If you have to go to court, do you get a lawyer?

Now that you are committed to providing care for someone that has a progressive illness, if you only do one thing – sit down with a professional and get a road map.  It’s called a Geriatric Care Assessment.

Geriatric Care Managers are professionals with the education, experience, and objectivity to carefully determine ways to maximize independence, care, and personal safety. We can help you to improve the quality of your life as well as the person you are caring for.

My services, for example, are tailored to the individual and his/her unique circumstances. My care management services follow a detailed four-step model:
  1. Comprehensive Assessment
  2. Individualized Plan of Care
  3. Service Arrangement
  4. On-going Monitoring

However, the Assessment is the single most important task for both the family and the person who needs care. Sometimes the assessment alone is enough information for a family to move forward, and it is not unusual for families take only the assessment in the beginning. Because it will help determine future care needs by clarifying functional abilities, cognitive skills, home safety hazards, and more. Invariably it gives a family direction and hope.

Chances are, you are heading down a road you have never traveled before.  Wouldn’t you like a road map?
